Stanozolol is the chemical name for Winstrol, one of the world’s most famous synthetic anabolic steroid brand names. It was initially designed and created by Winthrop Laboratories back in the late 1950’s. In the beginning, Stanozolol was used as a prescription drug for a variety of medical conditions. Its patent was bought by the US based pharmaceutical company Sterling in 1962, marking the beginning of its production, marketing and distribution in the American markets.
Stanozolol has many legitimate, clinical uses for both human and animal patients. At first the main purpose of this drug was to treat hereditary angioedema and anemia. It has been shown to be successful in preventing the retention of water in the body, which reduces the frequency of episodes of swelling in patients suffering from hereditary angioedema. Winstrol also boosts the production of red blood cells in the body, thereby helping treat anemia.
However, in the 1970s, the FDA had restricted its use to only treatment of osteoporosis and promoting growth due to concerns about its potential adverse effects. It has been proved effective in combating tissue wasting and has registered a lot of success in helping preserve bone mass in patients suffering from osteoporosis. By the late 1980s, the manufacture and distribution of anabolic steroids such as Stanozolol had come to a halt following the U.S. government’s war on steroid use.
Nonetheless, the popularity of this steroid meant that Winstrol not only survived the U.S. Congress’s 1980s clamp down on anabolic steroids, but also continued to thrive in the 1980s through to the 1980s. To this day, Stanozolol continues to be prescribed for a variety of conditions and also continues to be widely available and indispensable to bodybuilders, weightlifters, football players, and track and field athletes.
Stanozolol is available in two main forms: an injected solution and oral tablets. The oral tablets are usually taken in doses of between 10-25mg, while the injectable form Winstrol Depot is administered in doses of anywhere between 25-50mg.
Both the oral variety and intramuscular form feature the same chemical structure, which means they also act in a similar way. It is derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and belongs to the same class of anabolic steroids as Anavar, Anadrol, Proviron, Primobolan, Masteron and many others. That said, it’s actually an intriguing drug that differs quite a bit from the other anabolic steroids in its class.
Stanozolol comes with a 17-aa alteration (17-Alpha-Alkylated steroid form) which gives it a high oral bioavailability. This means it can’t be metabolized by the liver when ingested, allowing it to be sold in oral tablet form.
Unlike other anabolic steroids like dianabol or anadrol, which act through non-receptors, Stanozolol binds with the cells’ androgen receptors to act on the body. This steroid is also characterized by a high affinity for biding with SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin). Because of this a higher quantity of the drug typically remains in the bloodstream after taking the dose, thus enhancing its beneficial effects.
Stanozolol Benefits for Bodybuilders
As a variant of DHT, Stanozolol is extraordinarily anabolic and only slightly androgenic. As a result, it exhibits high protein generating abilities all the while possessing no undesirable aromatase effects. It greatly increases nitrogen retention in the muscles, providing quality muscle growth with little or no androgenic activity.
Admittedly, the anabolic properties of Stanozolol are still mild when compared to many powerful anabolic steroids. Because of this, this steroid is mostly used for building lean mass during cutting cycles, rather than bulking. It provides significant hard muscle growth benefits similar to those of other DHT based steroids. By using this steroid, bodybuilders are able to lose excess body fat, add hard and lean muscle mass, and achieve that huge, hard ripped look.
The effectiveness of Stanozolol stems from its unmatched ability to preserve and create muscle, without the associated non-lean weight gain. During the cutting phase of a muscle growth cycle, this steroid allows a bodybuilder to eliminate his or her body’s water weight and other non-lean mass, while retaining as much pure lean muscle as possible.
Although Stanozolol is virtually useless when it comes to bulking, there’s no denying the fact that this drug is a proven performance enhancer. Most studies involving this steroid have demonstrated improved performance, allowing athletes and bodybuilders to gain strength, power, speed and endurance. Perhaps this is the main reason why this steroid is so popular with professional athletes, something that has seen it gain notoriety of the worst kind due to the numerous athletic doping scandals that have been associated with it over the years.
Stanozolol helps bodybuilders and athletes train harder and recover faster. It achieves this by creating a “psychosomatic state”, which is a state of the body characterized by sensations of well-being, euphoria, tolerance to stress, and aggressiveness allowing the bodybuilder to train harder. This psychosomatic state is particularly helpful to experienced bodybuilders who have already developed the motor skills to exert maximal force during their strength training sessions. But it’s worth noting that, as with any other steroid, a diet high in protein and calories may also be crucial to maximizing the effectiveness of Stanozolol.
The drug’s ability to lower the sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) can also be beneficial to bodybuilders. It actually possesses the highest affinity for reducing SHBG. SHBG is a hormone that binds to other androgenic steroids in your cycle, thereby neutralizing them and making them useless. By binding with SHBG, it effectively reduces the amount of this hormone in the system. This not only increases the amount of testosterone in the body, but also allows for more of the anabolic-androgenic steroids being supplied to the body to rest in an unbound state for optimal cycle effectiveness.
Stanozolol Side Effects for Bodybuilders
Winstrol, like all steroids, is not without the possibility of negative side effects. But these Stanozolol side effects while real are so mild they generally go unnoticed. Moreover, they can generally be controlled by responsible steroid use. It’s also worth noting that as with all drugs, individual sensitivity plays a role and, therefore, the potential for undesirable side-effects can vary from one person to another.
Unlike many other anabolic steroids, Stanozolol has much lower water retention and doesn’t aromatize. This means there’s no risk of developing gynecomastia. However, being a 17-alpha-alkylated steroid, Stanozolol may cause mild liver toxicity.
Although Stanozolol has very low androgen activity, unpleasant androgenic side effects are still possible. They include worsening acne, accelerated hair loss in individuals who are predisposed to male pattern baldness, and virilization in women.
Some users complain of joint pain or feeling of “dryness” when using this steroid. Another potential side effect of Stanozolol use is high cholesterol. Its use leads to increased low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or “bad cholesterol” and reduces High-Density lipoprotein (HDL) or “good cholesterol”, which can cause a variety of problematic conditions. Fortunately, this side effect can be offset by eating a diet rich in Omega Fatty Acids.
Other side effects include bloating, high blood pressure, anxiety attacks, difficulty sleeping, headache, changes in sexual desire, swelling in ankles and allergic reactions, such as closing of the throat, difficulty breathing and swelling of the face, lips, tongue or hives. Stanozolol side effects other than the above may also occur. Consult your doctor before taking this steroid or any other medication to manage the risk of possible side effects.
